What if I am undecided about what course to study?

If you are still undecided about the course you wish to apply for, please take a look at our 24/7 Virtual Open Day page here or contact out team of admissions advisers who can provide virtual, telephone or email advice and guidance on the full range of courses and pathways on offer for you.

If you are thinking about applying for a higher education course with us, please visit our dedicated HE Virtual Open Event page here

If you have already applied to study a course with us and have received a conditional or unconditional offer, you will receive a letter and email informing you of the process for enrolment.

If you have only just applied, please don't worry, we will be in touch very soon to arrange an interview via telephone or Microsoft Teams and inform you of your next steps.

Following your interview, we will write out to you to confirm an offer to study with us. Once you have received this offer and confirmed your acceptance, we will keep in touch with you until your enrolment through a variety of ways, including:

  • Sending you regular news updates and emails
  • Organising meet and greet sessions with your course tutors (both virtual and face to face if we are able to)
  • Organising a range of transition help, advice and guidance sessions
  • Providing you with a range of transition material to help you start to familiarise yourself with the course(s) you are going to be studying
Enrolling at the college

We will confirm your place on your course as soon as you have received your GCSE results. You will then be invited in for enrolment.

What if I don't achieve the GCSE results I expected?

Please do not worry if you do not receive the results that you expected or you wish to change course. We will write out to you just prior to June to provide details of all of the help, support, advice and guidance sessions that we will be running across the summer, giving you the opportunity to book  a virtual or face to face advice and guidance slot to discuss your options and look at the courses and pathways on offer for you.

This advice and guidance will also be available via:

Email – admissions@merthyr.ac.uk

Your Induction

Once you have received all of the advice and guidance you need, finalised your subject choice and completed your enrolment you will be invited in to participate in our programme of transition activities as above and also attend an induction at college.

We will notify you of the date of this induction as soon as we can.

During this induction, you will meet your course tutor, go through your timetable, receive an introduction to how your Teaching and Learning will be delivered across the academic year and have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
