The Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PcET) and Professional Certificate in Education (PCE) are both post-16 teacher training courses to prepare you for work with learners in the post-complusory education and training.
Available for both graduates and non-graduates. Maths and English Language GCSE grade C or above are desirable. DBS check required.
The first year of the programme is designed to develop a range of essential teaching skills, increase knowledge of the learning process and develop ideas relating to teaching and learning strategies. Four modules will be completed during the first year: • Preparing to Teach (10 credits) • Learning and Applying Pedagogy (10 credits) • Planning and Assessing Learning (20 credits) • Professional Practice 1* (20 credits)
Assessment includes assignments based on lesson planning, teaching, assessment and evaluation, course design and small scale research. There are no formal examinations. Assessment of professional practice is via a series of observations and assessments an
Successful completion will gain a teaching qualifaction, along with a range of teaching skills and techniques.
