Providing an outstanding learner experience is a strategic priority of the college and Teaching & Learning is fundamental in achieving this. The college wishes to develop a team culture of enquiry and innovation, working together to create effective and innovative approaches to Teaching and Learning. Our Teaching & Learning strategy can be seen below;

The Teaching & Learning Strategy embraces and embeds the OLEVI principles as a means of driving up standards, with improvements in Teaching and Learning leading to improvements in outcomes for learners. Based on the TLC model (Teaching & Learning, Leadership and Coaching) the strategy aims to;

• grow exceptional practitioners
• empower practitioners to enhance the leadership of teaching and learning
• engage staff in a collaborative coaching ethos
• develop an ‘open door’ approach to sharing best practice
• provide learners with quality teaching in outstanding learning environments
• enhance learners’ knowledge and skills that are critical for progression or employment
• grow a culture of excellence and innovation

The cornerstone of the Teaching & Learning Strategy is the DRICE model. Through the employment of DRICE, teachers should focus on planning and facilitating sessions that are learner-led and achieve the following;

Role Models the learning process

Impacts on learning and progress

Challenges expectations

Engages learners in their own learning
