The College Merthyr Tydfil is delighted to receive Microsoft Showcase Schools Incubator status in recognition of its ongoing commitment to leading innovation in professional development
The Incubator status, which is just the first step in the college’s transformational journey towards achieving the full Microsoft School Showcase status by 2023, reinforces the college’s Vision to drive forward digital leadership, learning, technology, and infrastructure that inspires and empowers staff to develop their capability and expertise in digital learning.
This in turn will help ensure that the college is providing the very best teaching, learning and support for learners, utilising the very latest learning and teaching technologies to ensure that all learners are ‘future ready’.
Gareth Morgan, Digital Co-ordinator, commented “The college is really excited to gain Microsoft Showcase Schools Incubator Status. We are committed to developing the digital capabilities and skills of all staff, something which is evident from the high numbers of staff who have already achieved the Microsoft Certified status and Microsoft innovator educator expert status. All of this provides a firm foundation for us to now build upon as we progress our journey to achieving the Microsoft School Showcase Status.”
Chris Ford, Director of Learning at the college said “Education has transformed far more quickly than anticipated due to the coronavirus pandemic and achieving this status reflects the hard work that has been undertaken by the college to not only enhance the college’s digital strategies and infrastructure but to really drive forward innovation in digital learning.
Over the last two years we have made great strides in moving all learners and staff across to Microsoft Office and utilising Microsoft Teams as an effective platform for enhanced remote and blended learning. We are really excited to have the opportunity to now work with the Showcase School Program to further develop these platforms, learn from, and share, good practice and pioneer new digital technologies and resources to ensure the very best learning experience for all.”
