You can exit after one or two years with qualifications or top up by completing the final 2 years in USW for the BSc (Hons) in psychology

Entry Requirements

A level 3 qualification e.g. A levels / BTEC Or If over 21 you are classed as a mature student, and previous qualifications may not be necessary, so please get in touch

What will I learn?

You will develop your ability to think psychologically learning about the core concepts that frame psychology. You will study the major approaches in psychology, including social, cognitive, biological, and developmental psychology, and research methods. You will also develop practical psychology skills.

Course Assessment

A range of assessment methods including; essays, multiple choice questionnaires, reports, portfolios and case studies.

Career Progression

94% of students are in work or further study fifteen months after graduating from USW. Completion of the foundation degree can lead to entry onto the second year of a BSC Hons qualification in the University of South Wales which is accredited by the British Psychological Society for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC).. This course produces career-ready graduates with the skills to succeed in a variety of work environments. Student progression is varied, and demonstrates the value of this qualification by employers across a variety of sectors. Students progress on to careers e.g. therapy, counselling, mental health, the prison service, social services, welfare, teaching, policing, NHS careers, management, marketing, human resources, youth work, etc. Psychology degrees are also valued by graduate programmes offered by employers e.g. management. Students have also progressed on to postgraduate study completing PHD qualifications leading to careers as psychologists e.g. clinical psychologist.
