The Generic Fuel Changeover (CoNGLP1) course is designed for qualified gas engineers who already hold a Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety (CCN1) certification and want to expand their scope to work with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). It’s a conversion course that equips you with the knowledge and skills to safely handle LPG across various environments.

Entry Requirements

Must hold CCN1 and relevant appliance qualifications Ideal for engineers looking to expand into off-grid, leisure, or rural LPG markets

What will I learn?

Characteristics of LPG Properties and behaviour of LPG compared to natural gas Safety implications and combustion principles

Cylinder Storage & Location Sizing, positioning, and securing of LPG cylinders Safety requirements and environmental considerations. LPG Supply Pressures & Controls Emergency isolation procedures Flow controls, regulators, and valves

Gas Emergency Procedures Responding to leaks and unsafe situations Use of warning labels and emergency protocols

Pipework Installation Installation of LPG pipework (6mm to 28mm) Fittings, materials, and routing best practices. Tightness Testing & Purging Testing LPG service pipework in accordance with IGEM/UP/1B Specific procedures for boats, yachts, and other vessels

Written Theory Test, Practical Assessment, Professional Discussion

Career Progression

Domestic LPG Engineer, Specialist LPG Installer, Multi-Fuel Engineer, Technical Supervisor or Assessor
