The Gas Fires/Heaters (HTR1) course is an appliance-specific ACS module designed for qualified gas engineers who want to install, commission, service, and repair domestic gas fires and space heaters. It’s ideal for those already holding CCN1 (Core Domestic Gas Safety) and looking to expand their scope.

Entry Requirements

Must hold CCN1 or equivalent core gas safety qualification Suitable for: Category 1: Experienced gas operatives Category 2: Applicants with relevant mechanical qualifications Category 3: New entrants (may require additional training)

What will I learn?

Gas Safety Legislation & Standards Understand Building Regulations, British Standards, and legal responsibilities. Appliance Types & Operating Principles Learn about open flue, balanced flue, and flueless gas fires and heaters.

Installation Requirements Correct positioning, securing, and connecting of appliances. Commissioning Procedures Burner pressure settings, gas rate checks, and safety verification.

Servicing & Maintenance Routine servicing, cleaning, and performance checks. Fault Diagnosis & Unsafe Situations Identify faults, classify unsafe conditions, and apply corrective actions.

Ventilation & Flueing Ensure proper airflow and flue system compliance for safe operation.
