Course Outline

The FD in Esports is a 2 year full time course studied at levels 4. It is modern innovative multi-disciplinary course that provides learners with transferable skills. It builds upon existing successful content from level 3 and develops and articulates this into foundation degree level. It provides a resolved foundation for learners to develop core skills in strategy, business, media, broadcast, games design, health and enterprise, the core disciplines for esports.

Entry Requirements

A BTEC National Extended Diploma in a relevant subject or Two Advanced level subjects, at least one in a relevant subject. Mature students are welcome on the course, we take into account accreditation of prior learning, work based learning and candidates career aspirations.

What will I learn?

Theory, culture and history of esports. - An introduction into games culture, the evolution, and the development of the Esports industry. Business, Marketing, Global and Customer Immersion - An introduction into business and marketing for Esports in a global industry, and also examines customer immersion in an Esports business environment. Strategies, Coaching, Competitive Play and Psychology - An introduction to strategies and psychology surrounding coaching and competitive play. Single Player Games Design (Game) - The understanding relationship between single player games design and Esports, being able to recognise characteristics which can allow games to become competitive without multiplayer functionality. Hashtag Top Content - A firm grounding in the principles, skills and techniques of content creation. Health, Fitness & Wellbeing in Esports - Exploratory study into contemporary issues in Esports, and also investigates problems related to physical, social, and psychological wellbeing of Esports players.

Career Progression

Graduates may find employment opportunities as Esports managers, event organisers, broadcasters, analysts, journalists, or game designers. Broadcasters and journalists cover Esports news and events, while analysts use data to provide insights into player and team performance. Game designers create the games that are played in Esports competitions, and may also work on developing new technologies and platforms for Esports. Graduates may also pursue careers in marketing, advertising, or PR within the Esports industry.
