Course Outline

The HND in Computing is a 2 year full time course studied at levels 4/5. The course is aimed at those aspiring towards careers in Computer Science, IT, Cyber, Programming and Application Development or those who wish to continue with their education at a Higher Education Level.

Entry Requirements

A BTEC National Diploma in a relevant subject or Two Advanced level subjects, at least one in a relevant subject. Mature students are welcome on the course, we take into account accreditation of prior learning, work based learning and candidates career aspirations.

What will I learn?

Computer Security – This will equip learners with knowledge and practical skills for applications, protocols and processes in security. This will include network and web application security. Individual Project – Here you will develop a solution to a practical problem using technical knowledge and skills learnt on the HND. Creating Virtual Reality Environments - To understand the history and current practices in virtual reality development and what they might mean for the future. To be able to analyse and model data and processes for requirements of a defined scope, and to create an interactive and immersive virtual reality environment. Computer Programming 2 - This gives learners a deeper understanding of C# by providing practical sessions to develop key coding skills. You will also develop a game. Responsive Web Development - Here learners will development a responsive website using industry standard coding and software. You will demonstrate engineering skills in terms of data storage, website components, and tools Mobile Application Development - To develop knowledge and understanding of current practices in mobile application development process running in a graphical event-driven environment. To undertake in a professional manner analysis, design, production and evaluation of solutions to either small-scale unbounded or well-defined, more complex design and implementation problems in application software development.

Career Progression

Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress onto a degree program or software design and development, programming, software analysis, web design and development, database developer, games developer, cyber security, IT technical support and network engineer.
