One year full time intensive course in preparation for university. Prepares learners to be self-directed and independent, in a supportive learning environment by providing opportunities to develop study skills including time management and research skills. Tailored to suit those wishing to continue to degrees and careers in nursing, midwifery, operation department practitioners, occupational therapy, podiatry, radiography, and health administration among others.
There are no formal entry requirements, however all candidates must be 19 and over. We give full individual and careful consideration to every application. We also expect to see good interpersonal skills, commitment to the area of study and enthusiasm and understanding of your chosen career route.
The course introduces learners to a range of academic subject areas related to the higher education programmes related to health care; these include biology, sociology and psychology. Refresh and up-date learning regarding maths and English with the added opportunity to gain City and Guilds Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Numeracy and Literacy. It gives learners the opportunity to experience a range of assessment methods in preparation for those which will be encountered in Higher Education.

Successful completion of the course will enable learners to progress successfully on to a relevant degree course and then into a career such as: Nursing, Midwifery, Operating Department Practitioner, Social Work, Occupational Health, Podiatry, Radiography.
