Course Outline

The qualification has been adapted from theQCF diploma within the Apprenticeship framework; so facilitates progression to the industry recognised qualification. It will give the learner an opportunity to practice and be assessed in a secure environment on the installation of wiring systems together with the relevant theory of electrical installation. The learner has the opportunity to utilise the IET On-Site Guide with some of the units and also acquire the knowledge of electrical science and principles.

Entry Requirements

3 GCSEs at grade D or above (including a D grade in Maths) or a suitable level 1 Electrical qualification. You must be able to demonstrate 90% attendance during your course of study

What will I learn?

This qualification allows the learner to acquire knowledge and craft skills of electrical installation. It does not require occupational evidence from the workplace, so is suitable for learners who currently do not work within the electrical Industry (but may wish to do so)

Course Assessment

A combination of externally assessed (exams) and externally set and internally marked practical assessments.

Career Progression

Although this qualification does not aim to make candidates fully qualified electricians it enables learners to develop and practice the skills required for a career in electrical installations or electrical engineering. It is suitable for those who want to progress onto an Electrotechnical Apprenticeship programme.
