GCSE at D – G grades are required including Mathematics, English and Science.
The qualification is an introduction to a wide variety of mechanical engineering disaplines. The course is targeted at students with no engineering experience at school. The Diploma consists of 9 units including Health & safety, engineering machining, MIG welding, electonics and CAD. The course has a high practical content and primarily competance based. Progression from this course to the EAL Level 2 Diploma.
Internal assessments and external examination
Successful completion may enable learners to progress to the EAL Level 2 Diploma in Engineering and Manufacture or into work based training apprenticeship
