The Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development qualification has been designed for post-16 learners in Wales, working or seeking to work, in a regulated childcare settings with families and children under the age of 8. It will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of Early Years and Childcare and allow you to develop practical skills, through 350 hours in a placement setting with assessed observations.
At least 4 GCSE’s at grade A*-D including C grade in English and/or Maths and a formal interview and references. Level 1 qualification may also be considered.
The Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Practice and Theory qualification combines theoretical knowledge in children's care, play, learning and development with the practical skills needed to work within the sector. It is designed for post-16 learners in further education who are: • interested in working in a support role in the childcare sector • studying, or have completed Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Core qualification • returning to the workforce after a career break looking to refresh their knowledge and skills in the Childcare sector.
It is assessed through a series of internally assessed tasks and externally set and marked written examinations.
This 1 year qualification is aimed for those working or seeking work within a childcare setting. The course will provide you knowledge and understanding of Early Years and Childcare, allowing you to develop practical skills to progress into employment.
