Studying A level Geography encourages learners to apply geographical knowledge, theory and skills to the world around them. This will enable learners to develop a critical understanding of the world’s people, places and environments in the 21st Century. Geography’s strength lies in its breadth, learners develop both knowledge and understanding of contemporary geographical concepts together with transferable skills including planning research projects, data collection, extended report writing, analytical, statistical and presentational skills, all of which are useful in higher education and a range of employment opportunities.

Gofynion Mynediad

5 GCSE’s at grades A*-C including English language, Maths and Science. GCSE Geography is desirable but not essential however, this is at the discretion of the tutor. If GCSE Geography has been studied at GCSE a C grade or above is required.

Beth fydda i'n dysgu?

The course draws on both physical and human geography, explores people-environment interactions and encourages development of fieldwork at the local level to enable learners to pose enquiry questions.

80% examination and 20% independent investigation

A good proportion of students continue to study geography at degree level, with recent destinations being Swansea and USW. An even greater number use their Geography as a facilitating subject enabling them to apply for a wide range of courses such as sociology, law, biology and nursing/medicine.
