One Year full time course for learners who wish to prepare for the Access to Higher Education, any Level 3 or A Level course but do not have the required qualifications. The course is structured to meet individual needs and there is a strong emphasis on the core skills including communications and numeracy.
No formal qualifications are required. All prospective students are interviewed and assessed prior to being offered a place.
The Access level 2 course aims to introduce learners to a range of academic subject areas related to the health care programmes; these include health and social care, biology, counselling and sociology. Alongside these learners will be studying the Health and Social Care Core qualification, which will enable learners to apply for registration with Social Care Wales as a social care worker in domiciliary care or residential childcare providing that they meet any additional registration requirements.
Written assignments, exams, presentations, practical activities
Successful completion of the course will enable you to go on to a variety of courses including the access to higher education, health and social care and childcare. Because you will be returning to learn at college you must be prepared to allocate time for private study throughout the course, on top of your time in college.
