The College holds a large Work based Learning contract, has a vibrant Commercial Services unit and has achieved more Enterprise Scholarships that any other FEI in Wales. Recent years have seen a steady increase in student numbers, an improving quality profile and a strengthening of the institution’s financial position. The College holds Investors in People status, the Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark and the Careers Wales Quality Award. Some 280 individuals are employed at the College, of whom about 190 are lecturers. A major programme of improvement to the College estate is in progress with approximately £1.8 million spent in the current academic year.

The College is committed to equality of opportunity and increasing access and participation rates. To this end it operates a flexible admissions policy and provides for individual needs in the design of learning programmes. Free childcare is available in the College Nursery as is considerable financial assistance for eligible students.
