The aim of the Counselling service is to provide a safe, professional, accessible and confidential counselling service. Available to all students of the College, who may be experiencing emotional, or psychological problems, which could inhibit their personal development and/ or academic performance.
In an attempt to carry out this aim we have set the following objectives:
• To operate a service that conforms ethically to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and a specific confidentiality code. Information of these codes of practice is communicated to each client when they first use the service. For more detailed information on our confidentiality policy please see site for details.
• To provide a service congruent with the Association for University and College Counselling Guidelines and Recommended Framework of Good Practice for Counselling Services working within FE and HE Institutions.
• Through appropriate design of publicity, and accommodation our aim is to encourage equality of access and promote a sense of welcome and privacy for all.
• To contribute to College staff development by offering workshops, training and support in working with all staff.
