Course Description:
The Foundation Degree programme aims to develop students who have skills, knowledge and experience to enter the physical activity workforce to work with communities with diverse physical activity needs particularly in health promotion and local authority physical activity schemes. In partnership with local employers, this programme provides an excellent work based learning opportunities for students to gain a sound scientific background in health, exercise and fitness together with the ability to apply theoretical concepts in a clinical situation.

What you will Study:
You will study modules relating to the underpinning physical activity from an introduction to anatomy and physiology to understanding the psychological principles involved in long term commitment to exercise, to specialist area of nutrition and sport injuries.

The course provides ample opportunity to engage in both land based and water based outdoor skills such as mountaineering, climbing, caving, sailing, canoeing, and windsurfing. Expedition work is a key element element within the course with an opportunity for UK and overseas based expeditions.

Fitness Testing & Exercise Prescription
Work Based Module

Assessments will be through a mixture of written assignments, examinations, presentations, practical work and case studies. We try to keep exams to a minimum.

On Completion/ Career Paths:
Successful candidates who achieve appropriate credit scores can transfer onto the full degree programme at the University of Glamorgan.
