Course Description:
This course provides a thorough grounding in aspects of Sports Development and Fitness with a strong emphasis on coaching. Much of the work is practically based and there are regular visits to sports facilities.

Sport in Society, Reflective Practitioner, Ethics, Health & Safety, Body in Action, Nutrition, Fitness Testing, Training & Fitness, Coaching, Sports Development, Practical Sport (team), Special Populations, Work Experience via NVQ Sport & Recreation (Activity Leadership) Level 2, Emergency First Aid & First Aid At Work, Community Sports Leader’s Award, Higher Sport’s Leaders Award, Welsh Weight Training Coaching Award, Key skills in Communication, Number, ICT, Improving Own Learning, Problem Solving and Working With Others. Opportunities to gain coaching qualifications and work voluntarily in the community. Opportunity to join the College Football Academy.
On Completion/ Career Paths:
Students will achieve the equivalent of 2 A levels. The course provides the knowledge, understanding and skills for students wishing to enter a career in sporting performance, coaching and training as well as the uniformed services. A pass, merit or distinction gained on this course would enable students to then progress onto Higher Education at a university or the HNC/D course within the college.
