BTEC First Diploma in Sport Studies & WBQ

Duration: Full Time 1 Year

Entry Requirements: Entry is by interview; students must have a reasonable sporting ability and good standard of literacy and numeracy skills.

Course Description:
The course is designed to give people opportunity to begin studying sport through leadership. The course provides a very good base of learning within sport and is equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grade A-C.

What you will Study:
During your studies you will cover such units as preparation for sport, the body in action and leading in sport activities. Included within the course is a wide range of additional qualifications that will compliment your learning such as the sport leaders award and an NVQ L1 in activity leadership.

Students will study the Welsh Baccalaureate qualification along side this diploma. It will include Wales, Europe and the World, Work Related Education, Personal and Social Education.

On Completion/ Career Paths:
Students will achieve the equivalent of 4 GCSEs grades A – C. A pass, merit or distinction gained on this course would enable students to then progress onto a BTEC National Certificate/Award or another level 3 course or training.
