Gateway to Further Education

Entry Level: 1, 2 & 3

Duration: Part Time 1 year – 8 hours per week

Entry Requirements: No formal qualifications are needed, entry will be decided when the student attends an interview for the course.

Course Description:
This course is an introduction to Further Education and it offers an opportunity for learners to study for a range of Entry Level qualifications and activities aimed at developing independent living skills, promoting self-confidence and work awareness.

The course offers a caring and supportive environment where friendliness and respect for others is encouraged and where learning is an enjoyable experience. It is a part time course which suits those learners requiring one or two days at college. The groups are well supported and individual identified and strategies are put in place to meet them.

What you will Study:
Provision is also made for those learners wanting greater challenge and specialised interest options, such as IT or art. Learners follow accredited courses and enjoy a broad range of subjects including literacy and numeracy which lead to recognised qualifications. A range of ICT equipment and specialist software is available to provide the necessary support for those learners with communication difficulties.

On Completion/ Career Paths:
This course leads to recognised qualifications, namely OCN and ASDAN Awards.
