Merthyr hairdressers took their styles to a salon in the sun have broaden their learning horizons in Europe.
The five women from the College spent ten days working alongside hairdressing students in Majorca as part of a groundbreaking scheme to encourage trainees to explore how counterparts build their skills in different EU states.
The trainee hairdressers enjoyed the experience as part of a pilot scheme under the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Mobility Programme. The purpose of the initiative, supported by the Welsh Assembly Government and which is seeking to utilise the College’s European Social Fund (ESF), is to increase students’ employability by raising their self-esteem, knowledge, motivation and progression into further learning.
The aim is to greatly increase the number of mobility programmes which facilitate students to take their learning experiences across national frontiers.
