Student Success!

Andrew Hawkins from Abertillery started on a Skillbuild Youth programme at our Blaenau Gwent Work Based Learning (WBL) centre in June 2009. He expressed an interest in following a career in Motor Vehicle repair so, with this in mind, WBL Placement officers secured him a placement in a garage within his local area where he followed an NVQ/VRQ route in Vehicle Maintenance repair.

The experience, skills and qualifications he gained whilst on this placement stood him in good stead when he, with the support of his assessor Phil Dale, applied for a position as an Apprentice with Ford UK. He was successful in his application and now looks forward to a secure future within the car industry!
