Outstanding success for first year of BA Hons Business Studies Degree

Students studying on a new BA Hons Business Studies Degree at The College Merthyr Tydfil have achieved outstanding results in its first year with an overall 92% pass rate and over 25% of students gaining a 1st class honours degree. 

The BA Hons Business Studies Degree, which was introduced in 2015, aims to provide a progression route for local learners looking to boost their career prospects or employees looking to further develop their business skills.

Local businesses to benefit from £19m funding for work based training

As a result of a Welsh Government Announcement made today when the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government Mark Drakeford announced a £45m EU backed investment into raising skills and career prospects in South Wales, six further education colleges in the region are now able to provide EU-funded training to employers in South East Wales and Powys.

Tafflab business start-up award for former sports student

Daniel Delahay, a former sports student from The College Merthyr Tydfil has successfully been awarded a Taff Lab Business start-up grant of £1,000 to run holiday sports camps in Merthyr Tydfil.

Dan, who competed against five other students from Merthyr, Gwent and Coleg Y Cymoedd, plans to offer a range of sporting camps across Merthyr Tydfil utilising student coaching volunteers from The College Merthyr Tydfil.

Over 1,000 students from The College Merthyr Tydfil will be taking part in an innovative Global Citizenship Conference as part of their Welsh Baccalaureate studies. The week-long conference, taking place from 18th to 22nd April, forms part of the ‘Global Citizenship’ challenge of the Welsh Baccalaureate.
