Performing Arts students work with local care home residents

A group of the college’s Performing Arts students have been working with the elderly residents of two care homes in Merthyr Tydfil to lead workshops based on the theme Memories.

The residents of Greenhill Manor and Ty Gurnos had the opportunity to work with the students to tell the stories of their lives. The students then used these stories and turned them into a piece of theatre, which was performed to the residents last week.

It was great to see the residents enjoying their stories being performed and our students were all brilliant.

Time and Light – Through The Lens, Foundation Degree Photography Exhibition

Foundation Degree Photography students will be showcasing their work at their “Time And Light -Through The Lens" Exhibition, which runs at the Redhouse, Merthyr Tydfil from this Friday 16th December through to 7th January 2017.

Students get set for Trading Places Enterprise Competition

For the fifth year running, students from The College Merthyr Tydfil will have the opportunity to participate in the Trading Places ‘apprentice-style’ enterprise challenge.

Co-ordinated through the South-East Wales Regional Enterprise Hub, the competition will see the students compete in a series of business and enterprise activities and tasks, prior to running their own pop-up shops in the Morgan Arcade, Cardiff.

Entrepreneurial Merthyr students set to make their mark at Enterprise Skills Day

Enterprising students from The College Merthyr Tydfil will be taking part in an Enterprise Skills Day today, Friday 18th November.

The Enterprise Skills Day, which is being held at Cardiff City Stadium will bring together 120 of the most entrepreneurial college students from across south Wales and set them a series of skills based challenges to determine which of them will go on to manage stalls in a pop-up Christmas boutique in Cardiff city centre – in an initiative known as ‘Trading Places’.
