Students get set for Trading Places Enterprise Competition

For the fifth year running, students from The College Merthyr Tydfil will have the opportunity to participate in the Trading Places ‘apprentice-style’ enterprise challenge.

Co-ordinated through the South-East Wales Regional Enterprise Hub, the competition will see the students compete in a series of business and enterprise activities and tasks, prior to running their own pop-up shops in the Morgan Arcade, Cardiff.

Entrepreneurial Merthyr students set to make their mark at Enterprise Skills Day

Enterprising students from The College Merthyr Tydfil will be taking part in an Enterprise Skills Day today, Friday 18th November.

The Enterprise Skills Day, which is being held at Cardiff City Stadium will bring together 120 of the most entrepreneurial college students from across south Wales and set them a series of skills based challenges to determine which of them will go on to manage stalls in a pop-up Christmas boutique in Cardiff city centre – in an initiative known as ‘Trading Places’.

Launch of Brilliant Club for Science and Humanities learners

16 more able and talented learners from The College Merthyr Tydfil  will have the opportunity to participate in a brand new Brilliant Club initiative during this academic year. The college is one of only four schools/colleges in Wales to participate in this initiative that aims to widen access to highly-selective universities for pupils from under-represented groups.

Creative Industries students have an opportunity to inspire Neon Art Project for Merthyr Tydfil

Creative Industries students at The College Merthyr Tydfil are about to embark on a unique opportunity to work with an award winning Art and Design practice to help design two sculptures for Merthyr Tydfil.  

NEON Design, which is directed by architect Mark Nixon, seeks to explore new territories between architecture, design and art. They have been commissioned to produce two sculptures in Merthyr Tydfil, one directly outside The College Merthyr Tydfil and one at the beginning of the Taff Trail.
