BTEC National Diploma (Acting)

Duration: 2 Years Full Time.

Entry Requirements: Aged 16 +, 4 GCSEs plus and audition piece. For Mature students, post 18, entry is discretionary. All students must have good basic skills.

Course Description
The 18 unit National Diploma offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of performance and employment within the sector. The Diploma serves as a preparation for students who intend to progress onto higher education or drama college or find employment within the industry.

What you will Study
The course covers most aspects of performance. There are a great deal of opportunities to perform in a wide range of productions. All productions are created by M Theatre, a production company within the course. The emphasis is on working as a team and development of professional practice.

Year 1 – Acting, Movement, Voice, History and Context of Theatre, Devising, Theatre in Education, Theatre for Children and Singing.

Year 2 – Audition Techniques/Voice 2, Classic Theatre, Film and TV Acting, Performing Arts Business, Musical Theatre Performance,
Acting 2 and Singing.

On Completion
The course is ideal for students wishing to progress onto drama, dance school or university. Some students will find employment within certain parts of the industry. Performers will normally need to do a course at a higher level.
