What is the OPAC?

What computing facilities are in the Library?

What does the shelfmark mean?
Each subject is given a classification or shelf number to help you find the book you need. For example Literature is in the 800s, Maths 510s & Sociology is in the 300s. You can find the shelf number of a book by using the OPAC. The books are placed in numerical sequence on the shelves. To help you further, you will find 3 letters at the end of the shelf number, which are the first three letters of the author’s surname. If you have difficultly identifying the shelf number, please ask a member of Library staff.

Can I reserve items that are on loan?
You may reserve a copy of any item in the Library, provided that all available copies are already on loan. Please complete a reservation form for each item, using the OPAC to list details of the required item(s). Reservation forms are available from the Library desk.
