All learners will be assessed and interviewed prior to acceptance on the course.
Course Description:
This level 1 course is mostly practical and would suit learners who prefer a more ‘hands-on’ approach. It is designed for students who want to work within, a commercial computing environment, or those who need to build their skills before moving to a level 2 course.
Literacy and numeracy are important to all workers in the information technology area, and therefore these skills form an important part of this course.
What will you study:
ITQ – Web design, multimedia, graphics, presentation software, desktop publishing, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, internet and email.
CiDA – Using ICT and ICT in Enterprise
WBQ – Key Skills, Wales, Europe and the World, Work-related Education, Personal and Social Education and the Individual Investigation
As well as studying I.T, students will participate in out of the classroom visits and a range of activities.
Assessment Methods
Candidates are assessed by means of portfolio evidence. No exams.
On Completion/ Career Paths:
Candidates who successfully complete the course will achieve the Welsh Baccalaureate Foundation Level, a City and Guilds ITQ (I.T Users) Diploma, and an Edexel Certificate in Digital Applications. Candidates can then progress onto the Level 2 BTEC First Diploma in IT.
