Entry Requirements:
Mature students are welcome on the course, we take into account accreditation of prior learning, work based learning and candidates career aspirations.
BTEC National Diploma in a relevant subject: Advanced
GNVQ/AVCE in a relevant subject or Two Advanced Level subjects, at least one being in a relevant subject. Also students should also have at least four
GCSE subjects including mathematics at a grade C or higher grade.
About the Course
This course is designed to provide a broad base of IT knowledge as well as interpersonal and professional skills. It has a strong practical orientation and includes employment-based learning. The course will be delivered through a mix of traditional lectures, tutorials and practical sessions with some modules available online so you can study at a time and place that suits you. Each module will have assessed assignments and some will have an exam at the end..
What you will Study
To achieve the Foundation Degree qualification, you will study: 100 credits at Level 4, selecting from the following modules;
Advanced Word Processing, Advanced Spreadsheets, Advanced Databases
Advanced Presentations, Professional Development and Business Skills
Internet Application Development, Business Applications, Information Systems Development, Problem Solving for Computing and Computer System and Networking Concepts
80 credits at Level 5, to include modules from:
Information Systems Management, Rich Internet Application Development
Information Systems Analysis and Design, Network Administration and Security
Independent Study in Computing and Employment-based Learning
On Completion/Career Paths
Academic progression can be made to a Degree in Computing or other disciplines.There are career opportunities in the public sector, industry and in other private enterprises.
