Entry Requirements:
If you have recently left school you will need a
GCSE at grade E or above in English. If you don’t have
GCSEs but have some other qualifications, tell us about them because they may be suitable alternatives (e.g.
NVQ Level 2). If you have no qualifications we will still discuss a place for you, but will ask you to take a short entry test in English.
About the Course
The college has a range of excellent facilities to support the acquisition of
GCSE Maths. A college-wide student support service is also available, which includes a full time, qualified Careers Officer.
What you will Study
Five main topics are covered: using and applying maths, number, algebra, shape & space, and handling data. These topics will be assessed by examination as there is no longer a coursework assessment element. The course will be delivered at foundation level where students will be able to achieve a maximum grade C.
On Completion/Career Paths
GCSE Maths is assessed by examination only, as there is no longer any coursework component required. The course will be delivered at foundation level where students will be able to achieve a Grade C.” GCSE’s can lead on to many different types of courses e.g. A Level,
AVCE,
BTEC National and Access.
