Entry Requirements:No formal qualifications required. However basic literacy and numeracy skills along with practical skills are desirable.

Course Description:
This practically biased course is recognized as the first stage in developing the skills and underpinning knowledge for those who have an initial interest in the
Construction Industry.

Pathways to apprenticeship (PTA):
In addition to the year one (FCA) construction course eligible students will have the opportunity to apply for one of the limited places available on the PTA programme. This will require employment engagement (1 day per week) along with an additional day in college to complete specific training.

What you will Study:
The programme provides an introduction to one of the four main trade areas: Brickwork, Carpentry & Joinery, Painting & Decorating and Plastering. Learners are able to develop their practical skills and knowledge base that will enable them to work in their chosen construction trade.

On Completion/ Career Paths:
Students can progress onto the Intermediate Construction Award.
