Registration Fee

What will the £20 registration fee cover?

Students will receive a number of benefits in return for the registration fee. These will include:

Opportunity to study in a brand new state of the art facility which includes specialised classrooms and resources for IT, science, sport, hair and beauty, business and computing, humanities, health and care and creative arts.

Access to our dedicated performing Arts facilities situated in REDHOUSE – The Old Town Hall

Access to the largest range of A levels available across South-East Wales.

Access to participate in science activities offered through the Royal Society.

A dedicated student ID card which will be issued to all students to provide maximum security during their time at college. This card can also be used:

• As a cashless card that students can top-up with cash and use to pay for any lunch or snacks purchased from our refectory or Atrium café. Parents will also be able to top up this card on-line, providing reassurance that the money they are giving their children is being spent on lunch.

• Ability to borrow books or resources from our Learning Zone.

• Ability to access the University of South Wales Library facilities.

• Ability to register electronically for all of their lessons, with certificates issued at the end of each term for students with the best attendance record. This will also improve the college’s attendance monitoring process, ensuring that parents are informed immediately if their son/daughter is absent with no prior authorisation.

Opportunity to attend taster sessions and activities being offered by the University of South Wales.

Access to all open IT and social learning spaces in the new college building.

 Access to our unique programme for more able and talented students

 Opportunity to participate in a wide range of sporting and enrichment activities on Wednesday afternoons, lunchtimes and after lessons have finished.

 Discounted rates for DW Sports Gym.

 10% discount off a number of food outlets in the Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre, including Greggs and Busy Bee Fish Bar.

 Discounted rates at the college’s hair and beauty salons.

 Access to a free ATM cash machine situated on the ground floor of the college.

There are a range of financial grants and funding initiatives that students can apply for to help with the costs of study.
