COURSE DESCRIPTION
A level ICT will assist you in developing a broad range of skills, knowledge and understanding of ICT.
You will study the different technologies emerging and their impact on individuals and society; understand the consequences of using ICT and acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding of ICT to help solve problems.
AS/A2 UNITS
The first year is the AS course and covers topics such as:
- Unit IT1: information systems
- Unit IT2: presenting information task
The second year completes the A’ level with topics such as:
- Unit IT3: use and impact of ICT
- Unit IT4: relational database project
ASSESSMENT
60% examination and 40% coursework.
Entry
5 GCSEs at grades A* to C including English language and maths.
PROGRESSION
Many students apply to and are offered places at university to study courses such as IT and business studies, IT management and business information systems or any career in user support, systems analysis and systems development. A number of students go onto employment or move onto an apprenticeship programme.
