Course Description
Many students apply to and are offered places at university to study courses such as computer science, computing, software engineering and programming. The subject is an increasingly favourable A-level to support applications to Science and Mathematics based degrees. A number of students go onto employment or move onto an apprenticeship programme.
AS/A2 Units
The first year is the AS course and covers topics such as:
- Unit CG1: Understanding of software, system development, data and applications
- Unit CG2: Develop a program using a programming language
The second year completes the A’ level with topics such as:
- Unit CG3: Additional knowledge of software, system development, data and applications
- Unit CG4: Analyse, design, implement, test, and evaluate a computer program

5 GCSEs at grades A* to C including English language and Maths.C grade or above in GCSE computer science or B grade or above in GCSE ICT.
