Level 2 Hair and Beauty students from The College Merthyr Tydfil wowed judges with their amazing skills at their recent hairdressing competition. Over 65 students took place in the competition, which required them to create a hair and beauty image with co-ordinating costumes and makeup based on an ‘Around The World’ theme.
Tutor Karon Norton commented “The students worked extremely hard and took the time to research and come up with a range of innovative and refreshing designs. I am very proud of them all.”
The competition was split into hairdressing and beauty categories. 1st place in the hair category was awarded to Toni Abbott for her ‘Scottish’ themed hair and beauty design. Alicia, who previously studied at Mountain Ash Comprehensive school, commented “I am so happy to win. I was really nervous that my design ideas would work out ok.”
2nd place was awarded to Charlie Leonard for her Native American theme.
3rd place was awarded to Renee Morgan for her African theme.
1st place in the beauty category was awarded to Natalia Woronowska for her ‘California’ themed hair and beauty image. Natalia previously studied at Bishop Hedley Comprehensive school.
