Key information for week commencing Monday 2nd November

Dear learner

We hope that you have had a restful and enjoyable half term break.

Just a reminder that, as per the Welsh Government ‘Firebreak lockdown’ all of your lessons will be delivered on-line/remotely during next week -  Monday 2nd November to Friday 6th November.

This means that you will stay at home and do your lessons on-line throughout the week. You will then be able to return back to college based lessons from Monday 9th November onwards. Please ensure that you continue to engage in your on-line lessons and engage with your tutors throughout the week. We will be continuing to mark registers exactly the same as if you were attending college based sessions.

Your safety and wellbeing

Your safety and wellbeing is our key priority and we will do everything we possibly can to ensure that you are supported to keep on learning throughout the week and that, as much as possible, you receive all of the help, support and guidance you need to assist you with this. If you are concerned or worried about any aspect of on-line learning or support, please do let your tutor know or speak to a member of our Learner Support and Wellbeing Team (details provided below).

In the meantime, we have put together some frequently asked questions, for your information, as follows:

What if I don’t have access to any IT devices at home?

We handed out a large number of laptops to learners requiring a loan of a device during the last week of term. If you haven’t received one and you desperately need a device to help you engage with your on-line learning, please speak to your tutor immediately so that we can see how we are able to help you.

How will I access learner support during this week?

Your tutorial lessons will continue as per your timetable. If you are receiving any additional support through I2A or our wider learner support team, this support will continue remotely , on-line and your support worker or Learning Coach team will be in touch with you to make the necessary arrangements. If you are struggling or are worried about anything, please speak to your tutor straight away. He/she can then refer you to the relevant members of our Learner Support and Wellbeing team.

What will happen to any financial support I am receiving?

We will continue to pay all EMA, ALG and other financial support payments as normal. Free school meal monies will be paid directly into your bank accounts during the week.

I travel on the college’s Brecon Bus and have already purchased a monthly ticket?

If you are currently travelling on the college’s Brecon bus and have already purchased a monthly ticket to cover week commencing 2nd November will be able to roll this over to the following week for you to use.

Will the college crèche be open for childcare?

The college crèche will remain open to allow learners who use this facility to drop off their children when they are learning on-line/remotely.

How do I contact key support areas in the college?

If any of you have any queries or wish to contact any areas of support, please use the following Microsoft teams/email addresses. They are all being monitored continually and staff will endeavor to come back to you as soon as they possibly can.

T_Finance – for all Financial support and transport  queries

Learner Support and Wellbeing -  please use the email addresses as listed on the support contact card below:

When will the Year 1 Parents Evening now take place?

As you are all aware, the Year 1 Parents Evening scheduled for Wednesday 4th November has now been cancelled. The evening will now take place on Wednesday 25th November, 4-7pm instead.  Your course tutor will liaise with you to arrange a telephone appointment time during the evening.

If you have any queries, are worried at all about any aspect of on-line learning or support for next week or would like any further information on any of the above, please don’t hesitate to email our Director of Planning and Operations on:

Thank you for all of your hard work and support in helping us to maintain a safe learning environment for you all over the last few weeks.

Please take care and we look forward to welcoming you all back and seeing you on-line next week
