Level 3 VRQ students from The College Merthyr Tydfil wowed judges with their amazing skills at a recent hairdressing Spectacular competition. 26 students took place in the competition, which comprised two key sections – an Avant Garde and a Cut and Colour competition.
The Avant Garde required the students to showcase a range of hair styles, with themed costumes and makeup, on models of their choice.
Student Corey Evans said “It was quite challenging and nerve-wracking but I was very pleased with what I accomplished”.
Tutor Vicky Williams commented “The students worked extremely hard and took the time to research and come up with a range of innovative hair designs. I am very proud of them all”
Ellis Jones was awarded 1st prize for his fantastic creation – ‘Sea Witch’. Ellis said “I’m really pleased that I won, especially given some of the amazing styles on offer at the competition”.
