The College Merthyr Tydfil has teamed up with OLEVI to become the first college in Wales to have staff trained in its Outstanding Teacher Programme. 30 staff from across all divisional areas have been selected to become the first cohort of college staff to participate in the programme. These staff have been selected based on the quality of their teaching (consistently good), leadership and coaching skills.
It is hoped that the training will support the staff in their leadership of teaching and learning at the college and help them to develop a positive ethos and expectation where the quality of teaching and learning is continually role modelled at an outstanding level.
The training programme is currently being delivered over a ten week period, enabling staff to engage in learning walks and lesson observations as part of the programme and also reflect on their own practice.
Participation in this Outstanding Teacher Programme is just one element in the college’s dedication to providing the highest quality teaching and learning environment.
