This practically-biased course is recognised as the first stage in developing the skills and underpinning knowledge for those who have an initial interest in the construction industry. The programme provides an introduction to one of the four main trade areas:
Learners are able to develop their practical skills and knowledge base that will enable them to work in their chosen construction trade area or progress to the level 2 construction diploma.
No formal qualifications required. However, basic literacy and numeracy skills along with practical skills are desirable. All applicants will be interviewed. Applicants should show a keen interest in the construction industry.
PATHWAYS TO APPRENTICESHIPS (PTA).
In addition to the year one (FCA) construction course eligible students will have the opportunity to apply for one of the limited places available on the PTA programme. This will require employment engagement (1 day per week) along with an additional day in college to complete specific training (see website for further information).
