The College Merthyr Tydfil ‘Here We grow’ Day Nursery has successfully completed Phase One of the Cwm Taf Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School scheme. The Nursery, which provides 60 places for children aged from twelve weeks to eleven years of age, received a glowing report as part of its first Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School assessment.
“It was a great pleasure to visit Here We Grow Day Nursery. Clear management and an excellent team have developed a language rich environment where praise is readily offered and as a consequence, children are able to develop their language abilities with confidence, and explore a range of learning opportunities to enhance their developmental and social skills. In addition, the collaboration of the Chef and Manager alongside the Food and Health Guidelines for Early Years in the updating of the menu is to be commended”. Mrs Julie Powell-Jones, Assessor, Cwm Taf Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School Scheme.
Head of the Nursery, Amanda Park, commented: “Our fantastic new facilities have enabled us to provide a bright, well designed, separate age specific glass fronted rooms located around a central recreational space which is utilised during meals, physical activity and role play. This is further complimented by the Sensory Room and the utilisation of the college’s gym where the children can enjoy a supervised play session run by BTEC Sports students. We have established routines within the nursery providing a calm, cohesive, and relaxed transition throughout the day”.
The ‘Here We Grow Day Nursery’ offers full and part-time day care. The Nursery is open to the community, college staff and students and is conveniently located within the brand new College Merthyr Tydfil, providing fantastic CSSIW registered facilities with a large choice of up to the minute play equipment, accessories and furnishings that provide a first class care and learning environment for all of its children.
