These qualifications provide suitable foundation for studying sport or related subject at higher education and are widely accepted by universities. The AS equivalent is achieved through the BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Sport worth 20-60 UCAS points (AS equiv. grade E-A*) completed in one year. The A2 equivalent is achieved through the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in two years and is worth 40-140 UCAS points (A2 equiv. grade E-A*).

Assessment: externally and internally assessed through coursework and exam
Entry: 5 GCSE at grades A*-C including English and Maths
Progression: Many students apply to and are offered places at university to study courses such as sports studies, sports psychology, sports coaching & performance and sports management. A sports science degree can be an option with an additional science related A level. Students can also progress onto sports therapy routes with additional relevant qualifications and/or experience.
