About the Course

The Legal Text Processing (Intermediate) qualification is an Optional Unit within the OCR Level 2 Certificate in Text Processing. The OCR Level 2 Certificate in Text Processing has been designed to develop and recognise candidates’ ability to produce a variety of business documents without supervision.

What you will Study

The Legal Text Processing (Intermediate) Unit requires candidates to produce three business documents (one letter with two extra copies, one legal document and a form to be completed from given information) using a typewriter or word processor, to a standard that meets the business document production requirements of employment. Candidates will work from a draft containing both handwritten and typewritten material.

Assessment takes the form of an OCR-set and marked examination. The examination period is 1 hour 30 minutes, in which time candidates are required to carry out all assessment tasks within the stated error tolerance. Results will be graded Distinction, Pass or Fail and the grade achieved will be stated on the candidate’s certificate.

On Completion/Career Paths

In order to achieve the full Certificate qualification at Level 2, candidates are required to achieve the Core Unit (Text Production (Intermediate)) plus one of the optional units. A candidate who achieves the Core Unit plus three optional Units within a two-year period, will be awarded an OCR Level 2 Diploma in Text Processing. Certification is available for single Units.
