Course Description:
AAT Access is a new flexible, classroom based Level 1 Award in Accounting launched by the AAT in January 2011.
Accredited under the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), it is designed to help younger and less experienced students gain the skills and confidence to build a career in business or accountancy. It will also help students who are not ready for Level 2 – this may be because they:
• lack confidence
• speak English as a second language
• prefer more support or a stepped approach to grasp the accounting concepts.
What you will Study:
The qualification is made up of four skills and knowledge units:
• Mathematics for accounting (1 credit)
• Accounting in a professional environment (1 credit)
• Essential accounting procedures (3 credits)
• Creating business documents (3 credits)
AAT Access will be offered as traditional classroom-based.
As a broad guide, the study time for the course is:
• around 36 weeks of 2 hours a week for the delivery for part-time study
• plus the final integrated assessment – 90 minutes.
Students will have their skills and knowledge tested using a computer based assessment (CBA). This can be scheduled at any time making it a very flexible qualification.
On Completion/ Career Paths:
Students will have gained the Association of Accounting Technicians qualification and can pursue options throughout the accounting area.
