Do you or does your company carry out any of these tasks to vehicles fitted with air conditioning systems?
• General servicing and repair
• Removal or recycling of gas
• Regassing
• Removal & replacement of compressor or other system components
If the answer is YES, then from 4th July 2010, all Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) technicians working with cars and car derived vans, MUST have achieved as a minimum requirement, a refrigerant handling qualification which fulfils the European Union (F Gas) Regulation (EC842/2006 and Annex to Regulation EC307/2008).
The Refrigeration Handling qualification is required for any workplace that deals with air conditioning (A/C). This qualification is mandatory in order to work with and store air conditioning gas.
The training and qualification applies to the following industry areas:
• Light Vehicle Mechanical/Electrical Repair
• Parts recycling (vehicle dismantlers)
• Panel beating and spray painting
If you are an individual technician or have employees working with MAC units, Merthyr Tydfil College can deliver the right training, assessment and qualification to meet the rapidly approaching deadline.
