Duration:1 year part time

Entry Requirements: Applicants must hold teaching qualification and teach 3hrs plus per week at post 16. A language and literacy skills assessment will take place at interview.

Course Description:
The course is aimed at tutors who are delivering literacy and communication to adults or young people over 16. The aim is to extend the tutor’s own practice and deepen their understanding of teaching and learning, in this specialist area. The content includes knowledge of key questions, theories and concepts in this area and aims to support the tutor in the development of their own personal skills.

What you will Study:
Assessment is closely connected to teaching and professional development. Methods include presentations, micro teaching, learner case studies, seminars, teaching practice observations and critical evaluations of the tutor’s own practice.

On Completion/ Career Paths:
A greater knowledge and understanding of adult literacy in teaching.
