ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages)

Level: E1, 2, 3 & L3

Duration:full Time 1 year – 16 hours per week

Entry Requirements:
No formal qualifications are needed, entry will be decided when the learner attends an interview for the course.

Course Description:
We have classes that cater for adults with a variety of needs; for example, for people who have no formal education; those who wish to improve employment prospects; for people hoping to gain a professional qualification in English. Provision varies depending on learner needs. It ranges from direct language teaching to language support for the working and living environment. A range of accreditation is available at each level to suit your needs, for example, Open College Network , City & Guilds Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy Certificates.

What you will Study:
Beginner: this incorporates an introduction to the four skills: reading, writing, listening, speaking although priority is given to your specific needs.

Intermediate: students often have different levels of competence; for example, advanced spoken skills but weaker written skills. This level aims to develop competence in all areas of language skills.

Advanced: students have already achieved a good level of language skills, but with tuition can learn to develop their knowledge to better advantage. These sessions can include English for Business Purposes which has proved a valuable preparatory element for the IELS (International English Language Testing System) and PLAB (Professional Language Assessment Board).

Your English skills are much more thorough!
